Trying to use gevent library in Python: "ImportError: cannot import kernel name"

I am trying to use the gevent library in a Python application that I am writing. However, both easy_install and manual installation do not seem to work. Any suggestions?

The error was caused simply by trying to run the script from the project source directory. Going to any other directory and doing the “import” worked fine. More information is here on the gevent mailing list.
