How to write quomma

I would like to start using question marks at the end of sentences, as well as sentences. To indicate this, I would like to use a question mark with a comma below, which I would call quomma.

It seems that there is no Unicode code for this unconventional punctuation, so what is the most convenient way for the Internet?

  • Combining the diacritical label doesn't seem to work anywhere, I tried it :? (Although there is something that prevents overlapping), because the glottal stop sign, which looks almost like a countless question mark (ʔ), seems to work like you just saw!)
  • SVG support is not widespread and will require SVG for each font.
  • The bitmap image seems a bit complicated.
  • Is there any sassy but not too hoarse HTML / CSS?
  • Any other ideas?

Look at the combination of diacritics ( charts ), in particular U + 0326 (COMMA COMBINING BELOW).

HTML ʔ̦produces:

ʔ̦

Since this is unlikely to be the grapheme used in any existing language, regardless of whether it works or not in your browser, it may depend on a number of factors related to Unicode and font support.

This works inline; even IE can handle inline display blocks on span elements:

<p>Some text with a quomma in it <span class="quomma">?<span class="c">,</span></span> and some more text</p>

CSS

span.quomma {
    display: inline-block;
    position: relative;
}

span.quomma .c {
    display: block;
    position: absolute;
    left: .1em;
    top: 0;
}
