Datagrid for symfony?

I want to use datagrid in one of my modules (Symfony 1.3, Propel ORM). I spent some time searching the Internet, but everything I found expects a direct connection to db (mySQL) or is otherwise unacceptable.

I found the datagrid plugin ( http://symfony.swisscenter.com/datagrid/exemples ), but the documentation / examples are written in French - and I'm not too keen on learning French just for the sake of using the plugin - except if all users are French speaking, then it will be difficult to get support / help if / when I get stuck.

So my questions are:

  • Does anyone know of a good (PHP) datagrid component that I can use with SF?
  • Is there anyone (English speaking) using the SF datagrid plugin?

You can try jQuery Plugin. Take a look at this collection.

I think jqGrid is the best among all of the above. Allows inline editing, adding rows, searching, sorting, selecting columns, reordering columns, resizing, etc. Out of the box. The data formats that can be used are the data source, JSON, and XML. Demo at: http://trirand.com/blog/jqgrid/jqgrid.html

I went through the same thing recently, and in the end we went with http://datatables.net/ . You can use it with or without rest, and we have found that it meets our needs quite nicely.

Switching to javascrit using jquery or Angular would be better.
