Streaming HTTP Messages Using iPhone?

I am trying to stream a video using Apple http streaming technology. I'm starting to suspect that either the iPhone player or the Apple tools used to segment the video are errors.

I get terrible behavior. The application doesn’t seem to be very good at choosing which quality stream to use. It always starts with the lowest quality and often will work at the highest level very suddenly and will not be able to keep up with it. I tried various ways to change the bandwidth settings to check it out.

#EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1, BANDWIDTH=5000
3/prog_index.m3u8
#EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1, BANDWIDTH=10000
4/prog_index.m3u8
#EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1, BANDWIDTH=459319
5/prog_index.m3u8
#EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1, BANDWIDTH=90268800

I used a very large and small tweak to make certain threads the obvious choice, but that doesn't matter. Obviously, I also used the default values set by the Apple variantplaylistcreator tool. It always starts with the lowest quality and will strive to curtail random other qualities.

Does anyone know what is happening with this?

Have you tried the sample streams shown at the bottom of the page here ? Apple is testing them, so if they work there, you know this at its end.
