Recording data with a scribe

Question

None of the example pisses I've seen actually mentions the best way to take logs / log files and send them to the scribe. I could set up a logrotate script that has a post-section section that "cats" rotates the file for the scribe (but at best I get a minute delay). Another option is to keep "tail -f = | my_scribe_sender" and hope that this process is never killed. However, then you really cannot guarantee that you will not lose / duplicate data.
