OpenStreetMap reverse geocoding postal codes?

Question

I am working on a Blackberry application and would like to use OpenStreetMap reverse geocoding to get the address and / or street corner. I found Nominatim, but it doesn't seem to do zip codes in the USA (it has UK zip codes), is there an OpenStreetMap API to get zipcodes or some other free / open licensed reverse geocoding or address for zipcode / API data

note: this is for the final school project (but since this is an issue with the API / data source, I feel fair to ask it)

note2: another person has already made a version of Google Maps, I'm looking for something with a license like Creative Commons, please don’t mention Google maps Be careful, I found at least one API that claims to be open but seems to be based both on OSM, Google, and on other data (i.e., he had no right to give his data).

I am using Geonames.org . It offers various web services around geocoding.

Postcode WS helps you:
