What are the main benefits of Visual Studio Team Foundation Server over other versions?

We are exploring the possibility of moving to Team Foundation Server 2008 for our development team. One of our primary reasons is some of the deployment capabilities in BizTalk 2009, but I am curious what other benefits exist for other projects outside of BizTalk.

Some of our interests are still moving on to the build and deploy process with a single click, adding unit tests and continuous integration. Some specific steps for the company I work for.

What other benefits or information should I look for when I pass this on to management? I am looking for technical reasons, money is not a problem for discussion.

You already have many great TFS features (continuous integration, team building, unit test integration). Some of the other features that I was included in included:

  • Great support for branching and merging, which is great for groups that support multiple versions of software at the same time.
  • Custom registration policies to help ensure a stable code base in your source control.
  • Native support for your QA team through work items that can be accessed through the SharePoint 2007 portal that creates TFS for you, or through TFS Explorer in Visual Studio.
