Is it true that we should disable etags if we are compressing apache because etags will be different every time? Is this also true for deflation?

Apache uses the inode number, modification time and / or file size in the file system to generate an entity tag (see FileETagdirective ). And compressing only the output with mod_deflate will not change the inode number, modification time or file size.
