How to make a simple sound equalizer for iPhone?

I want to make a simple sound equalizer for the iPhone, but I don’t know how to start. The equalizer should be very simple and just change the bass, treble, distortion and, possibly, echo and chorus. How can i start? Maybe a sample code would be helpful.

Firstly, you are confused in your terminology.

The equalizer simply changes the frequency response of the audio channel. Usually it has a fixed number of frequency bands, the individual coefficients of which can be controlled by the user.
