Rails-friendly DHTML grid?

I have an Excel based user interface that I would like to replicate as accurately as possible in the form of Rails. I am looking for a DHTML network control that ...

  • can be easily formatted (wrt column width, font size, etc.).
  • is responsive (the page will contain up to 200 columns and 200 rows).
  • may have cells containing controls
  • has good integration with Rails (ideally, available as a Rails plugin with idiomatic API)
  • supports at least FF, IE, and Safari (possibly targeting iPhone ...)

Can anyone recommend (either for or against) the DHTML grid they used in the past?

I am pleased to look at both commercial and free solutions. If you or your company sells such a thing, this is a great opportunity to connect it :-)

I would say that active forests are the mother of a railing grid.
