.NET to create a portal

Question

What would be a good structure / package for creating a portal, such as PageFlakes, or iGoogle ? We strive to create a personnel / personnel portal that offers HR services for employees, but we also want the product to be flexible enough so that we can use it to create portals for other applications / goals.

I looked at Liferay and Vyre Unify , and they look interesting. I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

Preferred .NET solution. Open Source would be better, but a commercial solution is acceptable too. Security is also of great concern.

I have used DotNetNuke ( http://www.dotnetnuke.com ) in the past with great success. It has a large community and track record. There are also a huge number of third-party solutions to extend the functionality of the kernel ( http://www.snowcovered.com ).

In addition, you might consider using Windows SharePoint Services, but developing within this framework can be both a licensing nightmare and development.

Rolling your own simply does not make sense, given the overhead of reprocessing all the security and content controls.
