ASP.Net/Umbraco website has (initially) very high server response time

Question

I have this problem. I launched an ASP.NET website with Umbraco CMS on ISP. (This is just a basic information site, nothing special.)

When I want to visit a website, the first pageload takes a lot of time, sometimes even up to 20 seconds. Of course, this is ridiculous. Subsequently, I can quickly navigate the site.

So, every first pageload is slow, then everything is fine, more or less.

Does anyone know what the problem is? Will it be IIS? ASP.NET?

IIS is likely configured to shut down the application pool after N minutes of inactivity.

You might want to check out support. There are many available that regularly conduct polls on your site in order to maintain the application pool and prevent the launch delay that you see. More details here and here.
