Change SSAS Database ID

I want to rename the SALES cube to SALES_2009 and put a new cube called SALES. When I rename it, the identifier remains as SALES, so the new cube is now called SALES, but its internal identifier is SALES_2010 (and my old cube is called SALES_2009, but the internal ID is SALES).

Can I change the SSAS database ID?

I tried the properties window and googled bing, but to no avail.

You can backup and restore with a new name - http://richardlees.blogspot.com/2009/05/new-analysis-services-database-version.html , but there is no way to change databaseid AFAIK

With the help of some miracle, I found this. If you click the small button at the top of the solution explorer in Visual Studio that says “show all files” when you flip it, you will see a file called Something.Database. View the code for this file and you can edit the item. This will change the database identifier during deployment.

The inability to rename the database identifier is the current limitation of SSAS, I created the following Connect element, so Microsoft will hopefully solve the problem: https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/Feedback/Details/1134252
