Latex: page n of m for \ frontmatter and page n of m for \ mainmatter

I am working on a latex book that uses commands \frontmatter, \mainmatterand \backmatterfrom a class book. I also use lastpagethat gives me page n of m for the pages counted in \mainmatter. How do I get n from m count page for \frontmatterusing roman numerals?

You can do manually for the front what the package lastpagedoes for the main question. The easy way is to put

\label{lastoffront}

-, , , \clearpage, \mainmatter.

\thepage~of~\protect\pageref{lastoffront}

\fancyfoot (, fancyhdr). ; , lastpage, lastpage lastoffront.
