Android webapp hiding scrollbar?

Question

Is there a way (via javascript / jquery / css) to hide the scrollbar in an Android web browser? It doesn't seem like you will find any reliable information on the Internet, and everything that works in Google Chrome (the web kit mechanism, also) does not seem to work for the Android browser.
