Is there a way to use SVN for web development in a Mac store that uses code?

So, we strive to create good processes in our office. I have been working in an online store that has been dealing with websites for more than ten years. And we do not use version control. I know! This is bad, not my fault. I am a guy with a soft background that pushes to a minimum.

The technical leader studied it. We all use Mac workstations and mainly use Coda for editing, as this is a great development environment. It supports SVN, but expects it to work with local files. We are trying to learn how to set up a web directory as a local network drive using the SFTP tool.

We are a LAMP, BTW store.

I am wondering which model is here. I think we usually check the entire site on our local machine, where apache is running, and then check it there? This is not the way we work, we do everything on the server. We looked at what happens, but some files are owned by Apache, and the owners change when I check them, because I'm not apache.

I just want to know how to do this, given my circumstances. It would be nice not to run apache locally.

You might want to check out the Coda mailing list and ask there. There are many Coda enthusiasts with special experience.
