Virtual PC (XPMode) - How to access a web server from a guest from the host

I have Windows XP running inside Windows 7 via Virtual PC (XPMode) and installed Zend Server CE for XP virtual guest. The web server is working and can be accessed on the guest computer, but I cannot access the web server from the Win7 host.

I configured the static IP address and subnet 255.255.255.0 on the guest computer and could ping this IP address from the guest, but not from the host. In another way, this works fine, that is, I can track the host from the guest. I can also access the Internet from a virtual XP guest system.

I tried various network settings in VirtualPC settings, but nothing helps. Parsing the topic, I have not yet found anything useful.

Any idea that I could try to access the web server on the XP virtual guest machine from the Win7 host?

Finally, I started to work.

Here is what I did:

  • VirtualPC => Settings => Network: my WiFi adapter is selected instead of NAT
  • Determines the IP address of a virtual XP guest system using ipconfig.
  • Access to the web server in the guest system with a browser on the Win7 host using the specified IP address.

Do not ask me why, but this did not help determine the static IP address for the guest, so I left it for the dynamic one. The ping command also does not work, so do not check access, ping your guest, just check your browser.
