Vim update of the viewed file

I am just wondering if I am viewing a file, for example. x.log, which is currently being updated, i.e. log file. Is there a way to effectively update it, and not: q and vim x.log again?

Command: e without parameters will do this.

: edit without any other parameters will reload the current file.

: edit! discard changes first.

Gvim will also prompt you to reload the file if you switch to another program and vice versa, and discovers that the file has been modified.
