Visual Studio 2008 does not stop at all my glasses and often “runs away” when I turn to the statement, why?

Question

I often find that a breakpoint in a line of code that I know is executing does not break correctly.
It also often “ runs away ” when I “ step over ” or “ step in, ” etc.

Details

• Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Version 9.0.30729.1 SP
• Microsoft .NET Framework version 3.5 SP1
• The code is a mixture of VB.NET and C # with most of the code in VB.NET.
• There are many active threads.
• Many exceptions are thrown and caught by the software.
• Microsoft (R) Windows (R) Server 2003 Standard Edition

Some other people on the team saw this problem at different times, but on one I know how they fixed it!

Microsoft has released updates for the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 SP1 debugger. These updates mostly fix problems with stepping and breakpoint hits.

This seems to have sorted out the problems for me.
