SQL Server 2008 - FileStream - Disabling 8.3 file name and last access time

I am trying to configure SQL Server 2008 thread on my machine by following the article below: -

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc949109(lightweight).aspx

The article says that you should disable 8.3 names and the last file access on Windows for performance reasons, before moving on to SQL Server changes to enable the filter.

Question: - (If you can tell me your experience on this issue, it would be better)

  • What should I do if I do not want to disable 8.3 names and the last file access in windows? Will I still be able to work and work with Filestream?

  • Will there be any problem. If I configure SQL Server for filtering first, and if I notice a performance problem, would I make changes in Windows?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
