Finding information about laboratory information systems

Question

I am currently working as a programmer with LIMS (Laboratory Information Systems) in the field of environmental analysis of wastewater. I am currently using the VGL programming language (my own programming language for the SampleManager application). Does anyone here work in this area? Can anyone recommend any good books for further understanding of LIMS, as well as for testing and processing environmental samples?
