ASP.NET/Silverlight USB Management Device

I want to warn the user about a new message using a USB device (such as a blinking light). Is it possible to control a USB device from ASP.NET or Silverlight?

You can do this using the custom ActiveX component and som javascript on your web page.

Alternatively, you can use the Silverlight 4 application, which works in browser-free mode, but this is probably not what you want. SL4 can access the locally installed Com components that it runs in browser-free mode, so in this case it should be really easy to do.

I think you are unlikely to be able to do this. Reliable applications in Silverlight 4 may be able to do this, it would be in the browser, if possible, only if it is possible, and I think this is unlikely.

Otherwise, you do not have such access to the user system, so I do not think that you could only do this with these technologists.
