UniVerse RetrieVe, how can I request a file for all its column values?

Kind of my next answer to the question about finding column names.

In UniVerse, you cannot query a file for all its columns, unless the phrase @in your file dictionary is set to all columns of the tables. If this is not the case, how do you query the table for all the values of your columns?

So, I can get a general list of columns (column name and display name) using:

LIST DICT file NAME

This will return a list of all columns and their display names. How can I then query the table for all the columns that it has?

LIST file

Will only request for LIST file @id(@id is the only one in @).

UPDATE I found a blog - a living person who uses a version of UniVerse older than me !! where he complains about the same thing, but says that there is no solution, shy of updating @with all the columns, please god, someone will prove to him (Dan Watts) wrong.

Personally, I find loading the @dictionary element with each field, which can be annoying when you do everyday things inside a PICK environment. Typically, you want material that fits well with the 80 column display to have sorting and general parameters that make sense. I would prefer the SQL material to be customized and named accordingly.
