Developed by Mac Office 2008 - AppleScript vs. Vba

I am looking for advice from those who have experience writing add-ons for PowerPoint on Windows and Mac machines.

We have a Windows Office 2007 (.NET) add-on that we would like to port to Mac.

Thus, in PowerPoint 2008 for Mac, we need the following features:

  • Tape / Free Extensibility
  • Custom taskbars
  • Read / write custom document properties
  • Save slides as images
  • Reading text and form information from slides
  • Receive notification of the following PowerPoint events; `SlideSelectionChanged`,` PresentationClose` and `AfterPresentationOpen`.

I hope someone with experience writing Office add-ons for Windows and Mac can advise.

This will not solve your problem if you need to specifically do this in 2008, but Office 2011 is suitable, and it returns VBA. Spending the effort of converting your stuff into AppleScript can be a big problem for a small comeback, where you can wait for Office 2011, which brings the ribbon to Mac Office, as well as VBA ...
