Project files in VCS or not?

In our company, we discussed the question of whether to place project files in our version control system. What do you think? Consider an Eclipse project project for a C project that contains a source and does files and other things. Would you put it in VCS?

If the project files meet the following criteria:

  • They contain only information for quick source creation, verification, fixing and basic procedures (for developers).
  • Parts for release may possibly be separated from internal (for example, if you are a FOSS project or patented)
  • They do not change IDE settings or personal preferences
