How does the SqlGeography.Reduce method work?

How does this API work?

I use complex geography with ~ 2000 points (river geometry). When decreasing with a tolerance of 2048, it works fine. But when reduced with a tolerance factor of 4096, it eliminates the exception  "24205: The specified input does not represent a valid geography instance because it exceeds a single hemisphere. Each geography instance must fit inside a single hemisphere. A common reason for this error is that a polygon has the wrong ring orientation."

Does this mean that I have two geometries of different orientations (these points are located in only one hemisphere) in the geography object and with a tolerance of 4096 he is trying to combine these two geometries of different orientations, and this fails? Anyway, to avoid such scenarios?
