How to calculate the most used applications?

Question

So, I'm developing an Android app, and before I get too much, I want to conceptually hug what I'm trying to do.

Is it difficult to calculate or track the most commonly used applications?

Any ideas or ideas on how I can do this will be greatly appreciated!

I'm used to developing the iPhone, but pretty new to the Android platform.

I believe that only a structure has access to such information; Android applications basically do not know each other and cannot determine what else is going on in the system.
