Google Developer Phone

Do I need a Google Developer Phone for Android Developers? If I buy a phone from Rogers with Android OS, is it normal for me to write applications and try? Let me know what is the best practice?

You need a phone, in my opinion, but you do not need a developer phone to write applications.

One of the limitations that you will encounter, for example, will not be able to view all files and enable hierarchical viewing to see layouts for any application. Then you can always make it a mobile phone.

It is my understanding that you can develop from any phone. On the main screen, you probably want to click the menu, go to the settings and select "Applications". From there, development. During development, you will want to enable USB debugging so that you can run programs on your phone from within Eclipse.
