I would show visitors to IE6 a site with a limited amount of css (Progressive Enhancement), but also want them to gently display a heading informing them that they can / should update to a modern browser. There are initiatives like ie6nomore that do just that. But the list of modern browsers and the heading text are hard-coded.My site is localized, so I have a link to an external website that automatically detects their browser language and informs them about modern browsers in their own langauge. Thus, my “advice” will always be relevant and fully localized.
This is not a complete list, but Microsoft had to set up a browser selection page , which shows the top 12 browsers based on market share. This list will be reviewed every six months.
