Are there books on developing highly scalable websites?

(from the point of view of programmers)

I read how ebay does it:

Functional separation, horizontal separation, elimination of distributed transactions, decomposition of functions asynchronously, transfer of processing to asynchronous flows, virtualization at all levels, cache properly.

Are these things really taught or is it so niche that there really are no books on these topics?

I wrote an e-book called "Scaling on the Internet 1" for small architectures. It has some interesting examples for caching, dividing read / write databases and load balancing across a pool of web servers. This may be of interest.
