I am looking for a good textbook or book that explains how to process a customer’s credit card from a form on your website. I read something about using curl, but it was not a complete tutorial. I'm looking for a lesson that will take me from step 1 to actually charge a customer’s credit card.

Integration of payment gateways depends on the provider and provider. There are many providers like paypal, authorize.net, CCAvenue, 2CO, etc. Therefore, there is no single universal way to integrate all and all such providers as a whole. Thus, you need to first make a conclusion about which provider you want to use, and then study the integration on the website of the developer center.

Once you can successfully integrate your first supplier, you will find subsequent integration of suppliers easily.

Select a supplier and follow the instructions. I would suggest that it would be easier for you to find a PHP tutorial for creating a form than saying .... python or ruby.
