Iphone color picker

Question

I am trying to create a color representation on an iPhone. I want to draw one of these “color maps” and let the user click on the color. I can create a gradient (on the X axis) ok that gives me a range of colors, but I also want to combine the lightness (on the Y axis) that I'm afraid of.

Any help would be appreciated.

PS: I saw an example http://www.v-vent.com/blog/?p=27 , but this uses the png colormap file, which is not very "smooth".

Try working with HSV or HSL color spaces . You can have value / lightness or saturation along the y axis.
