Why can't I resize my view controller in Interface Builder?

In addition to the view-based application template, I made a second view controller. When I open XIB in IB, I cannot reduce the size of the view. It stays in full screen mode. I want this view to contain only some buttons, and then put it as a preview on another view.

Probably due to the fact that you have included some elements of "Simulated Interfaces" (in the viewing attributes) ... perhaps the status bar, which is set to "Gray" by default. Make sure that they are all set to No, and then adjust.
