ASP.Net + MVC + VS 2008

Question

Can anyone advise what is the best way to check on the client and server side.

Or we go for Data Annotation if it supports VS2008. Or go into jQuery ...

Can anyone direct me to any example, a link is welcome.

You want your users to have a fast and smooth user interface, so instant feedback is important (if you cannot guarantee that your round-trip time is super-fast) and saves on round trips. However, you cannot guarantee that only your clients with this confirmed entry are sent to your server, so you also need to check it.
