Image preloading does not work for images in FireFox

I dynamically switch background images. Naturally, they need to be preloaded in order to display them quickly. I preload them, I can follow FireBug when uploading images. When the background image switches, I see that the images are uploaded to FireBug again.

Here is my url: http://www.morganpackard.com/siteRoot/

Strange if I reload the page, everything will work as expected. The steps that I take are as follows:

1) clear the FireFox cache 2) page reload Images are slowly loading and, apparently, are not loading or caching. Each time an image is exchanged, the image is downloaded again. 3) now reload the page again without clearing the cache. Images load and change instantly, everything works as expected.

So, it looks like I need to REWRITE before FireFox reads the images from the cache. This is strange. Any ideas?

Note. My images are ENORMOUS. I compress them, of course, but I want this preload to be sorted first.
