What are the differences between using EDMX or EDML for entity design?

Question

Two quick quesitons:

• The benefits of using EDML or EDMX - when you decide to use one over the other
• DevArt Entity Developer vs. Visual Studio Entity Designer - I know that this part of the question may be a bit subjective, so I would rather ask which tool works best with entity design.

I found that some relationships in the DevArt tool are not created. For example, I have a self-rating table (each record relative to the parent record or null when root). The DevArt tool did not create this link (I use MySQL if this is a problem).

Anyway. I found that Entity Designer in Visual Studio 2008 (although it is far from completely ready) is better than DevArt because of the missed relationship.
