Is anyone developing in the cloud? (Mostly using rdp to access your devenv)

I read on Amazon ec2. And I think that in addition to the usual use: hosting, servers, etc., It can also be used to host your development environment.

Benefits:

  • Ability to log in from any computer and start development
  • Works on even the weakest laptops with atoms.
  • Easy options, like creating snapshots and clones of your developer's environment. (For example, when testing new releases of visual studios).

Does anyone develop this way? And if so, what is its practicality?

ps I know that there is a similar question, but they are all related to editing inside the browser and / or SSH'ing and the operation of the console. I'm more looking for the full RDP experience, where with a full-screen screen you don’t even notice that you are on another computer (except for a slight lag here and there)

I did something similar - complete remote development in a data center. The hardest part is moving files, but if you have a VPN or other direct access to files, this is not so bad. I hosted the SVN server along with the remote development environment, so I could maintain synchronization if I wanted to make a local dev, grab copies, etc.
