Suggested controls for an open source Windows Forms application?

Suppose I wanted to create an open-source Windows Forms project written in .NET. In my opinion, I am pretty well grounded that System.Windows.Forms sucks a lot of time. I like Developer Express controls, but they stand hand and foot, and I don’t see how licensing them for each developer will allow them to be used in an open source project.

What options exist for third-party Windows Forms controls that will be used in an open source project? I don't care if the controls themselves are open source - they just have good functionality and look good.

I would recommend you take a look at the following component suppliers: devcomponents , a set of tools for cryptography , purecomponents , VIBlend , DivElement . They all have many built-in features, and they are relatively cheap.

Winforms IMO standard controls are good enough to create standard Windows applications. But, if this is not enough for you, have you considered switching to WPF?
