Subversion is my initial control of choice after experience with source security and subversion.
Development with .net I find that the commit dialog is cluttered with files that are irrelevant and should be ignored. Since v1.5, ignoring file and folder patterns is a lifesaver that helps prevent the absence of files that I have to check.
Another tip that I find useful is to add external prefabricated binaries with the βLatestβ folder of the version:
Repo A
- Proj1
- Lib(External retrieves latest binary of Repo B)
Repo B (Library)
- Proj1
- Proj2
- Binaries
- v1
- Latest
That way, when I do the update, I also get the latest external builds.
What tips and tricks do you have to make life easier with Subversion and as a developer?
