Transfer MySQL data to SQL Server

I need to convert data that already exists in a MySQL database into a SQL Server database.

The caveat here is that the old database was poorly designed, but the new one is in the correct 3N form. Does anyone have any tips on how to do this? I have SSMS 2005.

  • Can I use this to connect to a MySQL database and create a DTS? Or do I need to use SSIS?
  • Do I need a script to output from a MySQL database and modify each statement to "insert" into the SQL Server database?

Has anyone gone through this before? Please, help!!!
