How to create a "built-in" SQL 2008 database file if it does not exist?

I created a database application using C #, ADO.Net and the built-in MS SQL 2008 database file (which connects to MS SQL 2008 Express), which I created in Server Management Studio. Can someone point me to a resource that describes how I can programmatically create a database file if it is missing (for example, immediately after installing my application)?
