How to create a heat map in the market

I am interested in creating a heat map of the stock market using internal data, in much the same way as on the following site: http://www.smartmoney.com/map-of-the-market/

We have all the data necessary for this, as well as the C # / ASP.NET interface and the end of C # / SQL Server 2005.

Can you recommend any resources for building this type of web application? PS Free is better!
