File System Regular Expression Search Tool

What is the best tool for creating complex (multi-line) regular expression content files with good reporting capabilities?

I need to report on a large Java / JSP database, and after that I will need to make some diagrams.

Eclipse is pretty good at searching, but it does not give a good report of what it finds. It just shows the file tree, but I would like to see a table with columns corresponding to a complete match, each group, file name, file path, file date, may contain version control information, etc. Then I can transfer this table to Excel and make some graphs that I want.

Is there any general file system search tool that has these capabilities? Or maybe there is some Eclispe plugin that can give better reports (note that I'm stuck on eclipse 3.1.2)?

PowerGREP (on Windows) can be used to do (most of) this. You can easily determine the format of the search results. I have not tried to add the meta information of the file to the search results yet, but this should work. Not sure if you can add version control information (where did this come from?) - maybe if you could be more specific, I could check.
