Sliding Window Scenario - Select Partitions Offline

Question

Is there a way in MS SQL Server 2005 to take files / filegroups / files offline?

I have a lot of data in some tables and you want to use the sliding window Script: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345146%28SQL.90%29.aspx#sql2k5parti_topic24

Instead of storing all the data in the first section, I would like to take the section (or files or a group of files, if possible) offline and make it inaccessible to my requests.
