Get the source code from a precompiled ASP.NET website?

In short, VSS decided that I was not allowed to change the code. I miss a decent function that I don’t want to rewrite (I gave the cooperative as work this summer). It works great and does what the client wants. However ... I do not have a car, and the car on which it was developed has since been paved low!

Do'h!

We published the site in a test environment directly from the visual studio, and then we copied the files into production. Therefore, I have "compiled" files from the VS publication.

How can I get this back to code? I'm sure I can figure out which DLL it is in, and I would suggest that something like a reflector would be my best choice? Are the original variable names stored?

I would use the .NET reflector. Your original variable names will be saved (if you do not run any obfuscator) if you have PDB files as well as DLLs.

I would suggest trying to flip your compiled code and see how readable it is.
