Insert Windows Media Player with rendering disabled

I work in a corporate environment where the main media player is Windows Media Player. On our intranet, we serve MP3s in the built-in WMP through Internet Explorer 6.

I have no problems with attachment, playback, etc. The only problem is that I want to turn off the visualization, which automatically turns on when I play MP3.

Note . I would love to, but cannot use the alternative in this case. Please do not offer.

Here is an example of what my current embed code looks like, it is very thin and only works in IE. I am working on updating it to be a cross browser, but right now it is not up to the requirements, so it has low priority.

<object id="PLAYER" type="application/x-oleobject" height="360" width="480" classid="CLSID:6BF52A52-394A-11D3-B153-00C04F79FAA6">
  <param value="sb-sou-3-09.mp3" name="Url" />
</object>

Ideally, I would like to keep the playback controls, but just turn off the visualization. If it's a big black rectangle, that's fine. Our users do not need the illusion that they fly through a tunnel of sound - they just want to listen to audio.

I tried to set the parameter uiMode, but none of the possible values listed on MSDN are the ones I am looking for.

try fiddling with height i.e.

<object classid="clsid:6bf52a52-394a-11d3-b153-00c04f79faa6" height="45" width="250">
    <param name="URL" value="reagan-audio.mp3" />
    <param name="uimode" value="full" />
</object>
