Removing a Visual Studio String

Is there any way in Visual Studio 2003 that I can delete a row without copying it to the clipboard?

There are times when I want to copy the first line of a block of text, and then delete the next n lines, but then it puts the last line that I deleted on the clipboard, which is very annoying. I came from a quick reference for keywords, and I could easily do this with Alt-D.

And while I'm on this question, why did MS stop supporting keyboard shortcuts?
