Less restrictive GPL-like license

Situation:

I want to choose a license for an open source project.

Having reviewed the GPL vs BSD / MIT, I prefer the GPL because it protects open source software. However, I prefer something less restrictive.

I am especially surprised by the fact that different versions of the GPL are incompatible !!

I want the software to remain FOSS, but I don’t want the licensing problems to get in the way of incorporating the source code into other FOSS projects.

Requirements:

  • FOSS (free / open source)
  • Prevents inclusion in closed source software.
  • Does not prevent inclusion in open source software that has a different license

Is there such a license?

Art License 2.0 may do what you need. This allows you to freely move the software under a different agreement, if you want, and you control the official version of the software.
