I have a gradient image like PNG (no transparency) on a web page. Having taken a screenshot from Chrome showing the page and cropping the image from the page, I see that the same colors are drawn as the image contains ... puts a screenshot next to the image in Paint and they are identical.
But when I do the same with the page created in IE8, the colors are different. I thought that first IE8 should trim the edges and stretch it, but that is not the case ... IE8 displays colors that are not in the original image, for example, there is a filter on top of the image.
Anyone have any ideas why or how I can solve this? The thing is, I have a background filled with solid color, and the gradient image blends perfectly with this ... one side of the image has the same RGB value as the background of the page. Obviously, if the image is not drawn correctly, you see an unpleasant edge effect.
