How to share image between projects in Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services 2005?

I have a SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services solution that contains several reporting projects. (I need separate reporting projects so that I can deploy reports to the correct folders on the report server.)

We want to include our company logo in the title of each report.

I do not want to bake the image of the logo in each report ("implemented"); and I don’t want to include a copy of the logo in every reporting project.

Nevertheless, I would like the logo to "live" in the solution and on the report server in one way or another, so that it is packaged with reports and deployed with reports.

How?

The best solution that I have come up with so far is as follows:

  • Create in my case a reporting project (called "Shared").
  • Include the logo image in this project (it is included in the "Reports" folder, but this seems inappropriate).
  • Set up this project to deploy where and when I want. (For "where", the "Shared" folder was the default and suits me.)
  • In each report, set the properties for the image on the "layout" tab (and I mean the properties in the form of a sidebar, not the other properties in the pop-up dialog box):
    • In the "Data" section, set the source to "External"
    • In the "Data" section, set the value to ../Shared/logo.png

( , RDL, XML.)

, Visual Studio, , .
